Large Xoloitzcuintle Card
Xoloitzcuintle comes from the Nahuatl word Xólotl, which means hairless or naked, and itzcuintli, which means dog. In Mexican mythology, Xólotl was the god of transformation and duplicity; of the nocturnal darkness of the unknown. The Aztecs also raised them for their meat. They are one of Mexico's iconic dogs, present in art and myths. Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera were great lovers of this type of dog. They not only painted them in their paintings, but they also photographed them and themselves with their dogs, showing the great affection they felt for them.
