The Catrina as we know it today emerged during the Porfiriato era when José Guadalupe Posadas made an engraving popularly known as the Catrina, this is a skeleton dressed elegantly, just like the catrines, related to a distinguished, conceited and wealthy woman. When we refer to someone who is very Catrina it is associated with the above as well as when someone is very well groomed.
