Quetzal Acrylic Box
Quetzal is a word of Nahuatl origin, associated with Quetzali, meaning "beautiful, shining feather." The Aztecs associated it with Quetzalcoatl, and the Maya with Kukulkan. In both cases, the connection was with deities related to the sky and the earth, that is, the underworld and the upper world. Its feathers were so highly valued that only priests and high-ranking rulers wore them. As we know, one of the most beautiful pieces of feather art is Moctezuma's headdress, which is made up of feathers from four species of birds, including the green ones that give it its distinctive hue. These are the feathers of the quetzal, which is why it is considered one of the most sacred animals in Mexico.
